Since 2005, Black Friday has constantly been the most bustling shopping day of the year in the US. Some news reports have deemed it the most bustling shopping day of the year for an extended period of time. As a matter of fact, every after Thanksgiving, heavy pedestrian, and vehicular traffic are experienced in certain areas.
Retailers usually open for business at 6:00 a.m. for several years although several have opened as early as 4:00 a.m. or 5:00 a.m. in the late 2000s.
Nonetheless, a lot of retailers like Target, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Best Buy, and Bealls opened at midnight for the first time in 2011. JCPenney, Best Buy, and Radio Shack opened at 5:00 p.m., Thanksgiving Day in 2014 whereas Target, Walmart, Belk, and Sears opened at 6:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
United States retailers have tried to introduce “Black Friday” in other countries since the start of the 21st century. Local retailers in many countries have tried to advertise the day in order to be competitive with US-based online retailers.
